Today, on the way to Nana and Papa's house I heard this discussion in the back seat:
R: Excuse me, I tooted!
P: Excuse me, I burped!
R: Excuse me, I burped!
P: Excuse me, I tooted!
R: Excuse me, I tooted!
P: Excuse me, I burped!
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera

At least they're saying, "Excuse me." :)
ReplyDeleteYou could see it as a poem, since "tooted" and "tooted" rhyme. If so, it's an abbaab rhyme scheme, which is the same rhyme scheme Robert Browning uses in "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came." They should be rewarded for their precocious poetry skills!
ReplyDeleteFor the meter to work, though, you have to pronounce the word "bur-ped."
ReplyDeleteIsn't that how EVERYONE pronounces the word?
ReplyDeleteAt least once, Roger actually said "burped-ed"
